WHAT WILL I SEE ON THE MILETOS BAFA LAKE DAILY TOUR?

This magnificent long drawn lake is 90km north of Bodrum and is part of the ‘Aydin’ nature park.
There are more than 255 different bird species native to the lake. Ornithologists from all over the world visit every year. It also forms one of Europe’s largest bird refuges.
2000 years ago Bafa Lake was a bay of the Aegean sea called the ‘Gulf of Lade.’ Due to deposits of the River Menderes, the bay was slowly separated from the sea and explains the slight salt content in which mullet, sea bream, eels and carp are caught.
The lake is surrounded by the Latmos Mountains (1400m) and is a great area for hiking/trekking tours. Since 700AD monks and hermits have left their marks on these remote mountain slopes. Byzantine monasteries and hermit caves are a favourite destination for study trips.
Four large islands lie south of the lake – Kapikiri, Ikizce, Menet, Kahvesar.
There are many places to visit – Yediler Monastery, churches and the ancient city of Herakleia which became a safety land for monks and priests in the early evangelisation of Asia Minor Christianity. The first monastery was established in the 7th century.
The archaeologist Anneliese Peschlow discovered more than 100 prehistoric paintings in the countless rock caves in the region. Among the sanctified sites in the Latmos mountains one grotto was found with paintings differing completely from all other motives previously found.
Ikizce (twin) island is connected to the mainland by a sand dune with a Byzantine monastery and an Athenian temple located on its top overlooking the lake and Kapikiri village. On the east side of the temple is the rectangular constructed agora as a two storied building. Only its first floor exists today. The theatre is situated in the north east of the ancient city Heraklia. Building dedicated to shepherd Endymion who was loved by the Goddess of Moon, Selene and was put to sleep for eternity by God of Gods, Zeus and is located on the road to the shore and island. Villagers believe the lovers still meet when the moon is full.
There are many restaurants and pensions available around the lake and village.

WHAT IS THE ITINERARY OF THE FULL DAY TOUR?

Once all customers have been collected from the area you will start your short journey towards Miletos. If you are one of the first pick-ups, please bear in mind that your travel time may be longer than the advertised time. You’ll arrive to Ephesus after about 45mins.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER I MAKE THE BOOKING?

If you book with us via Whatsapp, our representative will confirm the booking and send you a TURSAB approved digital ticket. If you book using the booking form on the right, you will be contacted by a representative shortly after, and will be sent a digital ticket. You can show the digital ticket on your phone to partake in the tour.

CAN I PAY ON THE DAY OF THE TOUR?

Yes. You can make the payment on the day of the tour in cash only. If you are booking during the busy period of high season, yu may be asked to pay a deposit.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

The tour fee includes your transfer, professional guide and Miltos  entrance fee and meal. Drinks, personal expanses and tips to the driver are not included.

ARE THERE ANY PRICE CONCESSIONS?

Yes, 5-8 year olds are half price and 0-4 year olds are free. A free ticket does not guarantee a seat on the coach. A young child may have to sit on an adults lap.

WHAT SHOULD I TAKE ON THE TOUR?

A camera so as no photo opportunities are missed. Money to buy breakfast, drinks and souvenirs, entrance to additinaols if you wish, and comfortable shoes for walking as the original roads are quite uneven. A sunhat and sun cream will help you stay ut of the strong sun.

CANCELLATION/REFUND INSURANCE CONTENT

Blue Mermaid Travel offers an unconditional 100% refund guarantee without any deductions if a reservation cancellation request or modification is made 72 hours (3 days) before the departure of the tour. The Assurance Package fee is ... per person for tours with 1, 2, or 3 nights of accommodation. For tours with 4 nights or more of accommodation, the Assurance Package fee is ..... per person.
Note: We only pick up our guests from the specified points and cannot provide pick-ups from other locations. On the return, we drop off our guests at the same point where we initially picked them up.
During the reservation process, seat guarantees are not provided, and seat assignments are determined based on the order of reservations. Front seat guarantees are also not provided.
In the event that a sufficient majority cannot be reached, with prior notice at least 1 day before, the tour may either be rescheduled for the following week or canceled.
